places in Alberta board horses. You can find bare-bones outside board with no riding
facilities at all -- or a full-service stable with everything imaginable to make you and
your horse comfortable. The following listings will give you a good idea of what's
available. Almosta Ranch Located 15 minutes
east of Edmonton and 10 minutes from the Blackfoot Grazing Reserve, Almosta Ranch is a
newly opened facility still in the development process. At the moment it has 8 box stalls,
6 tie stalls and can take 15 to 20 horses outside. Turnout is either individual or group.
Riding facilities include an indoor arena, outdoor ring, jumps and trails. It caters
to recreational riding, dressage, hunter/jumper, gymkhana, Pony Club and 4H. Groups and
individuals can rent the arena. Amberlea Meadows Amberlea Meadows is a large facility located just minutes south of
Edmonton. It has 88 box stalls and room for 10 horses outside. Group and individual
turnout are available. Both the barn and the indoor arena are heated and there are 3
outdoor riding rings. Other facilities include lounge, tack lockers, jumps and trails. Its
specialties are dressage and hunter/jumper as well as recreational riding and 4H. They
also offer birthday parties and summer camps. Amberlea Meadows hosts many shows and
clinics. Beckwith Dressage Centre
Located 5 minutes from Sherwood Park and 15 minutes from Edmonton,
Beckwith Dressage Centre is a stable dedicated to dressage and often hosts clinics. It
offers 13 box stalls in a heated barn with tack lockers. Horses are turned out
individually. Facilities include a heated indoor arena with lounge and an outdoor dressage
arena. There is also an equine veterinary clinic on the premises. Blackmud Creek Equine Centre Located 5 minutes from Beaumont and
10 minutes from Edmonton, Blackmud Creek Equine Centre welcomes both English and western
recreational riders. It has 10 box stalls with the number to be increased soon, and has
room for 15 horses outside. It offers pasture turnout for the barn horses. Facilities
include an outdoor riding ring and tack lockers. Miquelon Meadows Inc Miquelon Meadows
is located 30 minutes east of Edmonton. It has 15 box stalls and room for 100 horses
outside. More stalls are being added. Both pasture and separate pens are available
for outside board. The barn and indoor arena are heated and include a lounge and tack
lockers. There are also an outdoor arena, jumps and a cross country course. Riding
activities include dressage, jumping, eventing, reining, gymkhana, recreational riding and
shows. Rocking Bar Ranch Rocking Bar
Ranch is located 5 minutes from Fort Saskatchewan, 12 minutes from Sherwood Park and 20
minutes from Edmonton. All breeds are welcome at this large facility with 32 box stalls, 8
tie stalls, and room for 50 horses outside. Individual turnout is available for an
additional fee. The barn and indoor arena are heated and there is both an outdoor riding
ring and a round pen. Other facilities include a lounge, tack lockers, jumps and trails.
Its specialties are recreational riding, amateur owner programs and 4H. Shadyvale Equestrian Centre Located 10 minutes from Sherwood
Park and 20 minutes from Edmonton, Shadyvale Equestrian Centre is an adult-oriented barn.
It offers 27 box stalls and 7 tie stalls in a heated barn, and has room for 15 horses
outside. Both group and individual turnout are available. Riding facilities include a
heated indoor arena, an outdoor riding ring, jumps and trails. Other facilities include a
lounge, tack lockers and washbay. Its specialties are dressage, hunter/jumper and
recreational riding. Wells W Five Horse Ranch Both English and western riders are
welcome at Wells W Five Horse Ranch, located 25 minutes west of Edmonton. It has 17 box
stalls and room for 12 horses outside. Although the barn is not heated, there is a heated
tacking up area. Both group and individual turnout are available. Facilities include a
heated indoor arena which is always available for boarders to ride in, a lounge, an
outdoor arena and a roundpen. Pony Club camps take place during the summer. Where Paths Cross - Bale, Bed &
Breakfast If you or your guests need a place to stay while enroute with horses,
check out this "Alberta Best" facility near Mayerthorpe. Visiting horses can be
housed in either indoor or outdoor box stalls. Indoor stalls are metal-piped puck board.
Outdoor stalls have metal sides with wood kick-board, puck board front and metal roof.
There are also three pasture areas with Bayco fencing. All have water. Located within the city limits of
Calgary, MC Equestrian Centre specializes in hunter/jumper. The heated barn contains 13
box stalls and 5 tie stalls and there are provisions for both group and individual
turnout. Other facilities include a heated indoor arena, an outdoor arena, trails, a
lounge and tack lockers. The boarding fees vary depending on such options as blanketing,
